❤️ Advanced Couples Therapy Training

She integrates approaches including Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Gottman Method Couples Therapy, and Imago Relationship Therapy to help partners understand their relationship patterns and create deeper emotional safety.
🌿 Trauma-Informed Therapy That Includes the Mind and Body with Katie Ziskind
As a trauma-informed therapist and 500-hour certified Yoga Therapist, Katie Ziskind understands that healing involves more than just talking about experiences. She incorporates somatic trauma therapy approaches, mindfulness, nervous system regulation, and body-based awareness to help clients process emotions, reduce stress responses, and reconnect with themselves.
Yoga Nidra for Deep Relaxation and Nervous System Healing
Katie Ziskind incorporates Yoga Nidra, a guided mindfulness-based relaxation practice, into her holistic therapy approach to support deep rest, emotional regulation, and nervous system calming.
Often described as “yogic sleep,” Yoga Nidra allows the body to enter a deeply relaxed state while the mind remains gently aware. This practice can help reduce stress, quiet racing thoughts, increase body awareness, and support healing from chronic tension, anxiety, and trauma-related stress responses. Through guided breathing, body awareness, visualization, and intentional relaxation, Yoga Nidra offers clients a peaceful opportunity to reconnect with themselves and cultivate a greater sense of safety, balance, and inner calm.
💕 Specialized Sex Informed Counseling & Intimacy Therapy with Katie Ziskind
As a Certified Sex Therapy Informed Professional (CSTIP), Katie Ziskind provides a safe, shame-free space for individuals and couples to discuss sexuality, intimacy, desire, sexual confidence, relationship needs, and challenges that are often difficult to talk about. She believes healthy intimacy begins with emotional safety, self-understanding, and authentic communication.
Helping Women Explore Pleasure, Sexual Confidence, and Authentic Intimacy
Katie Ziskind provides sex-positive, compassionate therapy for women who want to better understand their bodies, explore their sexuality, and develop a more fulfilling intimate life. Many women grow up receiving little sexual education, feeling pressure to prioritize their partner’s pleasure, or learning to stay quiet about their own needs and desires. Katie Ziskind helps women who have never experienced orgasm, are unsure what feels pleasurable, or struggle to communicate their needs during sexual experiences. Through education, self-exploration, and shame-free conversations, women can learn to understand their own arousal, communicate what they enjoy, and feel more confident expressing their desires.
Katie Ziskind also supports women in learning how to speak up during intimate moments without fear of rejection, disappointing their partner, or hurting their spouse’s feelings. Many women have learned to tolerate sex that feels uncomfortable, disconnected, rushed, or focused primarily on male pleasure rather than mutual enjoyment. Therapy with Katie Ziskind can help women develop the confidence to ask for more foreplay, communicate preferences, set boundaries, and create a sexual relationship where both partners’ pleasure, comfort, and emotional connection matter. Healthy intimacy is built through curiosity, communication, consent, and the freedom to be fully present and authentic with your partner.
🏳️🌈 LGBTQIA+ Affirming & Identity-Affirming Care with Katie Ziskind
Katie Ziskind welcomes clients exploring identity, gender expression, relationships, and authenticity.
She provides compassionate support for LGBTQIA+ individuals, transgender clients, feminine men, cross-dressers, and those seeking a safe place to explore parts of themselves. No longer do you have to hide, fear judgment, or criticism.
Affirming Therapy for Gender Exploration, Sexuality, and Authentic Self-Expression
Katie Ziskind provides compassionate, LGBTQIA+ affirming therapy for individuals exploring gender identity, gender expression, sexuality, and the many ways people experience themselves.
She supports transgender women, transfeminine individuals, men exploring a bi-gender identity, and those who feel they have both masculine and feminine parts of themselves. Katie Ziskind offers a safe, nonjudgmental space for clients who identify as feminine men, gender nonconforming, two-spirit, cross-dressers, or individuals questioning how gender and identity fit into their lives. She helps men speak up when they desire and want a submissive role within a sexual, erotic power dynamic.
Therapy focuses on self-understanding, self-love, reducing shame, building self-acceptance, and helping clients explore their authentic selves at their own pace.
Katie Ziskind also works with individuals who are questioning their sexuality, including men who have primarily dated women but are exploring whether they may be gay, bisexual, queer, or somewhere else on the spectrum of attraction.
She supports clients navigating complex feelings around attraction, fantasy, identity, relationships, and societal expectations.
This may include men who feel emotionally, romantically, or sexually attracted to transgender women or transfeminine individuals and want a safe place to process their experiences with curiosity and respect. Therapy is not about forcing a label or rushing toward an answer — it is about creating space for honest exploration, self-compassion, and a deeper understanding of who you are.

🧠 Deep Understanding of Trauma and Relationship Patterns
Katie Ziskind helps clients understand how childhood experiences, having a narcissistic parent, childhood abuse, generational patterns, attachment wounds, adolescent development, birth order, sibling dynamics, family dynamics, religious trauma, cultural messages, and past relationships influence present-day emotions and behaviors.
Together, you can explore the root of challenges rather than only treating the symptoms.
Katie Ziskind helps individuals heal from religious trauma, purity culture, and shame-based messages that may have shaped how they view themselves, their bodies, relationships, sexuality, and emotional needs. Many people grow up receiving messages that create fear around pleasure, intimacy, questioning, identity, or expressing parts of themselves that feel different from what they were taught was acceptable.
Over time, these beliefs can contribute to guilt, anxiety, self-judgment, difficulty trusting yourself, relationship struggles, and feeling disconnected from your authentic self. Katie provides a compassionate, nonjudgmental space to explore your experiences, honor your values, and separate your own beliefs from messages that may no longer serve you.
Healing from Religious Trauma, Shame, and Fear-Based Beliefs
Through trauma-informed therapy, Katie Ziskind helps clients process painful experiences, rebuild self-worth, develop self-compassion, and create a healthier relationship with themselves and their bodies.
Therapy can support individuals navigating religious shame around sexuality, gender expression, sexual orientation, relationships, intimacy, masturbation, desire, or personal identity. Whether you are struggling with fear, guilt, grief, anger, confusion, or the challenge of creating a life that feels aligned with who you truly are, Katie offers a supportive space where you can heal, grow, and reconnect with yourself without judgment.
✨ Personalized Therapy — Not One-Size-Fits-All
Every person and relationship is unique. Katie Ziskind tailors therapy to your goals, personality, experiences, and needs. Sessions may incorporate traditional talk therapy, emotional processing, mindfulness, creative approaches, somatic techniques, and practical tools for everyday life.
⏳ Extended Therapy Intensives for Deeper Work
For clients seeking more focused support, Katie Ziskind offers extended therapy intensives lasting two hours or longer. Intensives are available in person in Niantic, Connecticut, Melbourne, Florida, and through secure video sessions for clients located in states where she is licensed.
Whether you are struggling with relationship conflict, trauma, intimacy concerns, emotional disconnection, shame, anxiety, or questions about your authentic self, Katie provides a supportive space where you can feel understood, accepted, and empowered to heal.
At Wisdom Within Counseling and Coaching, therapy is not about changing who you are — it is about helping you understand yourself more deeply, strengthen your relationships, and create a life that feels authentic and meaningful.

You may have spent years trying to manage anxiety, relationship challenges, shame, trauma, conflict, or parts of yourself that felt difficult to express. Katie creates a warm, nonjudgmental environment where you can slow down, be honest, and explore your experiences without fear of criticism or rejection.
Whether you are coming to therapy as an individual, couple, or relationship, you are welcomed as a whole person — including your emotions, history, questions, vulnerabilities, strengths, and hopes for the future.
Katie Ziskind believes lasting change happens when we understand the deeper reasons behind our struggles. Instead of only focusing on surface-level symptoms, therapy explores the emotional patterns, attachment experiences, trauma responses, beliefs, and nervous system reactions that influence how you think, feel, communicate, and connect.
Together, you will explore questions such as:
- Why do I keep repeating the same patterns?
- Why do I feel stuck even when I understand what I need to change?
- Why do certain conversations become overwhelming or painful?
- How do my past experiences influence my current relationships?
- What do I need to feel safer, more confident, and more connected?
- Balance of Emotional Healing and Practical Tools
Katie Ziskind believes therapy should be both meaningful and practical. While exploring deeper emotional experiences, you will also develop tools you can use outside of sessions to improve communication, regulate emotions, strengthen relationships, and create healthier patterns.
Depending on your goals, sessions may include:
- Understanding relationship cycles and attachment patterns.
- Learning healthier communication skills.
- Practicing emotional regulation strategies for anger and panic attacks.
- Exploring boundaries and self-worth.
- Increasing self-compassion.
- Building confidence and authenticity.
- Strengthening intimacy and connection.
- Developing tools for managing anxiety and stress.
Helping Couples Move From Conflict to Connection
Many couples come to therapy after years of feeling stuck in the same arguments, feeling emotionally distant, or struggling to understand one another. Katie helps couples slow down these painful cycles and understand the deeper feelings underneath conflict.
Rather than focusing on who is right or wrong, couples therapy at Wisdom Within Counseling and Coaching helps partners discover the unmet childhood needs, traumas, fears, and longing beneath their reactions.
Through increased understanding and emotional safety, couples can rebuild trust, improve communication, and reconnect.
Helping Individuals Heal, Grow, and Feel More Like Themselves
Individual therapy with Katie provides space to explore your personal story and create meaningful change. Clients often come in feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, ashamed, anxious, or uncertain about their next steps.
Together, therapy can help you:
- Heal from past wounds.
- Understand yourself with greater compassion.
- Strengthen your identity and confidence.
- Process difficult emotions.
- Improve relationships.
- Break unhealthy patterns.
- Create a life that feels more aligned with your values.
