About Kaylen!

I work with teens, adults, and couples at Wisdom Within Counseling and Coaching.

I am an empathetic and judgement free practitioner. I enjoy working with individuals who are struggling with depression, anxiety, grief, or life transitions. I believe that client’s issues are best approached from a holistic, strengths-based, and trauma-informed perspective. I am passionate about promoting healing for the individual’s emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual wellbeing.

By taking a holistic approach, I am ensuring a more comprehensive and individualized treatment plan no matter the client or the situation. I strive to provide individuals and couples with the support and guidance that ensures they are living their most authentic lives.

I am a LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent affirming therapist who is ready to walk alongside you to provide support and resources to assist you in becoming the most authentic version of yourself. Our current social climate is not the most conducive state for individuals who are members of the LGBTQIA+ community which can make it hard to feel the freedom to be yourself. During our therapeutic work together, we will explore ways for you to unapologetically own who you are. Whether you are exploring your gender identity or already an out and proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community, there is always a safe space here for you.

As a neurodivergent individual, I have experienced firsthand how hard it can be to have a neurodivergent brain in a world made for neurotypical individuals.

I also know how frustrating it can be to feel like your brain is constantly working against you. I am committed to working with you to find out of the box solutions to the problems that may be plaguing your life. I will meet you where you are and empower you with the confidence to find your way down a path of success.

I am honored to be afforded the opportunity to work with clients from all races, backgrounds, lifestyles, sexual identities, and life stages. I enjoy working with individuals who are struggling to cope with their current life situations. I am eager to help you navigate these situations while we work together to find (or create) a new path forward. I believe that you know yourself best, so I think it is important to allow you to be in the driver’s seat of your healing journey. I am along for the ride, and prepared with directions, support, and assistance as needed!

One of the greatest lessons I learned during my own therapeutic journey was the power of “and”. It is not uncommon to feel shameful when we experience joy in moments of mourning, and it can be extremely difficult to have feelings of grief come up during what is supposed to be a joyous occasion. I always believed I had to focus on one feeling or the other. When I realized that joy and grief can (and do) coincide, my viewpoint on life changed. As your therapist, we will work together to find the balance between grief and the joy or the highs and the lows of your life. You deserve to celebrate all of your life’s moments without feeling shame or guilt.

I am really looking forwarding to meeting you and embarking on this journey together. Always remember, you are worthy; you are brave; you are enough.

My Favorite Quote

“If you can’t find the light, I will sit with you in the dark”. – Unknown

As a therapist, it is my honor to walk with you through tough and trying times in your life. I can’t do all of the hard work and healing for you, but I can, and will, guide you and offer you tools to best assist you on your journey. Sometimes the path seems too dark to continue on, and on those days I vow to sit with you until you can see the light again. Life won’t stay dark forever, and when the light shines again we will rejoice together!

My Favorite Thing To Do On The Weekend

On the weekends, you will hardly find me without my family in tow. We love to explore different parks, museums, and zoos. I am also a huge fan of live music and try to secure tickets whenever my favorite artists are in town. Though I love to be out and about, I will never take for granted the opportunity to curl up with a new book!

Favorite Anxiety Coping Skill

My favorite anxiety coping skill is the 5-4-3-2-1 method. This method involves identifying 5 things you can see, 4 things you can touch, 3 things you can hear, 2 things you can smell, and 1 thing you can taste. This technique always helps me focus on my body in the present and allows me to regain control of my thoughts and breathing.

Fun Fact About Me

A fun fact about me is that I am a self-proclaimed card game enthusiast. So much so that I keep decks of Phase 10, SkipBo, and Uno in my car and my travel bags. This ensures that no matter where I am I can set up a game. This has come in handy during hours long layovers in airports or rainy days at the beach! Game nights at my house can be intense for sure.
