As well, insure that the room is dark or dimly lit. Make sure there are no interruptions. And, turn your cell phones on airplane mode. Nothing else matters when you are doing your 15 minute meditation. This is because this is the sole focus for the next 15 minutes. You will read aloud all of what is below. Let’s begin!
Prepare script: (look at your family member, eyes connect)
For our meditation today, find a comfortable seat or lay down. Allow your eyes to close. I invite you to take off your shoes and glasses. You may use a lavender eye pillow when laying down. At anytime, readjust if you become uncomfortable.
10-15 Minute Mindfulness Meditation Script:
Allow your eyes to get heavy. You can always open them, but see if you can rest your eyes. Make any final adjustments so you are five percent more comfortable. Start by taking a deep breath in, and a slooooow breath out. Continue to listen to the sound of my voice though this meditation. If you notice your mind wanders, gently bring your attention back to the sensations in your body and the sound of my voice. Just notice inhale and this calming, present-moment experience. Feel the release on your exhale. (Pause)
As we move through a body scan, allow your mind to relax each part as it is mentioned. Move from body part to body part with your mind. Nothing else matters right now. (Pause)
Bring your awareness to your lower jaw, teeth and gums.
Allow your tongue to get heavy and relaxed. Notice the feeling of your upper teeth and gums. Become aware of your nose, your right nostril, your left nostril, and your nostrils breathing. Notice your right eye and left eye. Feel your eye lids resting over the glossy surface of your eyes. Feel your eyelashes interlaced. Notice the inner corners of your eyes. Feel relaxation in your eyes, as radiant energy. (Pause)
Become away of your ears, your ear lobe and your inner ear canal. Notice your ears listening. Notice any sounds pleasant or unpleasant without judging. Become aware of sounds inside your body. Become aware of sounds inside this room. Notice your ears listening to sounds outside this building like traffic on the street. Also, notice the sound of my voice guiding you deeper and deeper into relaxation. (Pause)
Feel you forehead, scalp and hair.
Relaxation washes down your neck. Feel you shoulders, arm pits, upper arms, elbows, forearms, wrists, palms. Notice your thumbs, pointer fingers, middle fingers, ring fingers, and pinky fingers. Both palms are relaxed. Letting goooo, letting goooo, letting goooo. (Pause)
Feel relaxation in your heart center, a place of self-acceptance and compassion. The ribs on the the front of your body are relaxed and the ribs on the back of your body are relaxed. Notice your breathing around each rib. Expansion and a let go. Feel your spine, a highway of energy. Also, notice sensation in your belly, low back and digestive system. (Pause)
Become aware of the shape and architecture of your pelvis. Your right hip and your left hip are relaxed and at peace in this moment. Feel your breath relaxing your pelvis. Notice your upper legs, knees, lower legs, calves, and ankles. Become aware of your heels, the arches of your feet, the tops of your feet, and your toes. Your feet are relaxed and at peace in this moment. Letting go, letting go, letting gooooo. (Pause)
Deeper and deeper into relaxation.
As you breathe in, feel a wave of serenity. As you breathe out, all worries wash away. Breathing in peacefulness. Breathing out fears wash away. Hear the following positive affirmations as the truth about you now. Repeat each statement to yourself after me as the present truth.
Even if you don’t believe these are true, every time you repeat them to yourself, you are planting a positive seed in the fertile soil of your mind to bring about transformation and healing. I am relaxed and at peace in this moment. I am calm and balanced in this moment. Whole, complete, and perfect just as I am. I am alive and free, capable and strong. I am good enough as I am in this moment. Connected to all living beings. I trust the universe has a plan for me. I trust my intuition andam attracting positive relationships. Exactly where I am meant to be to grow. Hear these as the truth about you now.
Visualize peace in your heart and radiant energy flowing through your body. Take a deeper breath innnn, and a longggg breath out. You have plenty of time. There is no rush. We are slowly concluding this relaxation practice. In your own time, gently wiggle your fingers and toes. Take wrist and ankle circles. Remove your eye pillow if you are using one. Flutter your eyes open, taking in the colors of the room around you. Allow your eyes to close again. Know that you can always come back to this peacefulness in your heart and mind anytime. Allow your eyes to open and come up to a comfortable seat.
(Take a breath & Gently make eye contact with your family member, offer a soft smile to them)
